Membership is FREE and available exclusively to CFUF alumni and friends!

This is CFUF's private, online community created exclusively for CFUF alumni.   It is a secure, password-protected environment established by the Center For Urban Families.

 

 

After registering the site administrator will review your profile, and after his/her approval, you will receive an email with your login details.

Get started with the Jumpstart Pre-Apprenticeship Program
 
What is Jumpstart?  
Jumpstart is a three-month program that provides classroom training to Baltimore City residents interested in entering the construction field. Our goal is to launch graduates into a construction career and prepare them for entrance into a state-approved apprenticeship program. We are currently recruiting for our class beginning September 8th.
 
What are the qualifications to get into Jumpstart?
  • Baltimore City Resident
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Able to pass a basic math test
  • Possess a driver’s license or be willing to get one
  • Job-ready and a positive attitude
  • Drug free
  • Physically capable of working in the construction field
  • Demonstrate a desire to pursue a career in the construction trades
 
How do I apply? Attend one of our screening sessions:
 
  • When: Wednesday Mornings @ 9:00 a.m. through Wed. August 11th
  • Where: Our Daily Bread Employment Center

My life is a tale of two boys with two very different dads.

When my first son, Trey, was born 30 years ago, I was what they now call a "baby daddy" — a young, unmarried high school dropout with a bad drug habit and a rap sheet. I never considered marrying my son's mother. In fact, I just disappeared from her life after the baby was born. As a result, Trey grew up feeling abandoned and hostile.
